Yes, you can continue to pay your contributions after you stop, even if the stop is a long time (like 10++ years). However, if you were self-employed, you might need to be interviewed again, depending on circumstances.
Otherwise, all you need to do is pay as voluntary since you already have previous contributions.
Remember to use the new payment form for SSS Contribution payments.

Hi Ms. Guia
ReplyDeleteI was so happy that I found this very informative site that could help my dilemma with my employer.
Maam I'd like to ask kung since 2013-present wala akong contributions, can I still continue the payment? ilang months yung pwede ko bayaran? pwedeng last 3 months or just this month lang? I also found sa SSS website yung computation ng contribution, for my wage range it's around 1,650, is this per month? can I declare a lower MSC para example 1,500 na lang a month? Is it okay to pay also especially for me na matagal na hindi nagbabayad sa mga accredited banks and bayad center or dapat sa SSS branch para sure? Also the downloadable forms can I have it printed or they have preferred forms sa mga payment centers? Thank you and looking forward ako sa reply.
ReplyDeleteyou can continue paying at any time after you stopped.
Deleteare you working? self-employed? if anything should happen you would like your MSC to be the highest since benefits are always derived from this value. so better to pay at the right level.
SSS does not accept retroactive payments. but SE and VMs are allowed to pay quarterly. So you can pay Jan-Mar contributions in April, Apr-Jun in July, etc. etc.
the actual date depends on your SS number. Read the post on contribution payments.
better to print, safer to have your data on paper already before you queue, that way you dont have a mistake
DeleteGood day po.. I am an OFW for 3 yrs now and my SSS contribution stoped noong nagtrabaho na ako abroad. Now i would like to continue my membership (contribution). SE or VM? What is the difference?
ReplyDeleteAlso if i am not mistaken, you have mentioned na OFW's are qualified for retroactive payments? From which month po pwede kong bayaran til present? Gusto ko rin kasi po sanang maging qualified for short term benefits as soon as possible.
Thanks po and more power!
SE stands for Self-Employed, which is applicable for those with business, practicing professionals (accountants/lawyers/physicians) who work for themselves. VM or voluntary members are those who are not employed by employer as defined by RA8282 (SSS Law). OFWs are classified as VMs or Voluntary Members, except that they are overseas.
DeleteAlso for SEs, you would have to prove that the business has closed, or that you have stopped practicing your profession to retire before age 65,.
OFWs are not really qualified for retroactive payments, however, they can pay contributions anytime within a calendar year,. For example, an OFW may pay for Jan-Dec 2015 before the cutoff (depending on the SS number) in Dec 2015. A regular SE/VM can only pay the month following the contribution quarter - meaning, Jan-Mar can be paid before the cutoff in April, Apr-Jun before July, etc. etc.
hope this clarifies matters for you
Hi! I have a friend who is now working abroad and she wants to continue her sss contribution (her last contribution was Feb 2015). The question is can someone pay on her behalf? Based on the form, member's signature is required. Would a letter of authorization suffice?
ReplyDeleteAnd also, is it correct that she can only pay from July 2015? Sorry, I got confused with the no retroactive, but an ofw can pay her contribution for Jan-Dec 2015, until Dec of 2015.
Thank you po! :) :)
1. Yes, someone can pay for her. just make sure that her ss number is correct otherwise it will get unposted.
DeletePut her name and the payor will sign for her using payor's name and indicating "for". letter of authorization is NOT required, but if you have one, that is okay too.
2. She has to fill up the form that identifies her as an OFW.
Use form OW-1 ---> see link https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/DownloadContent?fileName=SSSForms_OFW_Record.pdf
if she needs to change her record, she can use this
https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/DownloadContent?fileName=SSSForms_Personal_Record.pdf
3. She can pay from when she started as an OFW. For example she started in March, she can pay her March-August contributions. If she started in July, she can only pay from July, thus creating a gap.
Hi ma'am good day. I would like to ask if possible na yung employees mismo ang magrequest na istop ang pagdeduct ng SSS contributions nila. Some of our employees wants to stop their payments. Are we still liable then in this case?
ReplyDeleteyes, your office IS still liable.
Deletethe sss contributions are mandatory NOT optional and therefore cannot be waived
Hi Ma'am, my employment ended last oct 31, 2015 and i want to continue my contributions as voluntary member. Can i pay straight to accredited banks using the rs5 form or should I still go to the SSS office to update my membership status? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteyes you can. you can update your records using rs5 as well by checking the correct boxes
DeleteGreetings Ms Guia, I am now 59 yrs old and I just had 45 months paid in my sss contributions, can I still continue paying contributions in order th reach the required 120 months to qualify for the retirement pension? If yes, can I increase my MSC and if so, by how many bracket?
ReplyDeleteyes, you can continue.
Deleteprobable increase is only 2 brackets
