My favorite birthday gift

this picture was one of the offerings of the ArtsnFriends.  I had wanted it then but was a little late in expressing that want so Eni Sibal, sister-in-law of Alice Sibal Lim had first dibs on it.  Eni changed her mind and Alice got it and gave it as a birthday present.

I absolutely love this picture.  It also represents my life.  If you know me, and how life has been for me, you will understand its significance.

The picture says "I WILL SURVIVE".
Life thrives ... even in adversity.

Abueva pieces at the Arts n Friends show

The Art Book

i am having the Art Book i bought signed by Tito Billy.

The bas-relief is made by Abueva.  The tri-dimensional figure in front is made by a Canadian artist.

the photo is rather small.  would you believe this is a carabao?

though not clearly seen in this print.  this figure has a "verdigris" patina.  very beautiful.

The Trinity Carabao. Maybe i should call it the Family Carabao
this is the one that i would like to own.  when i hit the lotto jackpot. yes.

The Oblation.  10K i believe.
as a UP Diliman graduate, i wish to have a copy.   but i am having a few house repairs done so ....

A New Place

Looking for a new place to think and ponder the wonders of the Universe?

Or perhaps you have kids who now want to test their wings? be independent?
and you want a safe place for them?

well, look no more.
there are at least two past posts on the place of my friend.
We had the Arts n Friends preview there on 1 July 2012, and then the following Sunday 8 July 2012

Note: Affordable furniture store is nearby! So you can just buy nearby and save on the transportation hassles

Very accessible to: Ateneo, Miriam College, Eastwood Libis, Blue RIdge,  Katipunan, River Banks, SM City Marikina,
The building is between the Katipunan LRT station and Santolan LRT station... walkable distance from either station.

From Cubao - Aurora Blvd, stay on right at Marcos Hi-way and turn right at Major Dizon Street, just before the Marikina River.
From Libis: On C-5, going towards Ateneo, turn right on Major Dizon Street from Katipunan Extension just before Aurora Blvd flyover.

Public transportation: via jeepney or FX to Antipolo/Cogeo via Marcos Hi-way from Cubao

personally i use this route - by car or cab - i go via Xavierville turn right at Aurora, do a U, then down Marcos, then turn right at the first right available - that's Major Dizon.

Sunday 8 July 2012 Arts n Friends Exhibit III

Art n Friends - Exhibit III, for the NGO Kidney Friends and other Advocacies

I got Art.  and I want more.  if the pocket can afford it.
Food.  Glorious Food.

Art to me is beauty and spirit, and a wham to the heart.
without that wham or bang to the heart, the art is not for me.

Art has to hit me where i live, for me to want it, or for it to belong to me

So. I went to the Exhibit.  Not just for the Art, of course, but for the laughter with friends.

me. Tita Cherry. Alice. Sis-n-law of  Dr Coni

I got these."The Sun will come out Tomorrow", my title for Amihan Abueva's quilling work.  Alice is holding the art work.

A bunch of cards for a variety of events that will surely come my way.
A butterfly/flower design by Giselle.  I need her to frame it.
A poster print from an upcoming Anime artist ...to be given to my nephew Japoy Ongchangco

and these i want -
A photo titled Circle of Life, but one i prefer to call - Life Triumphant
-- i was just updated.  it has been sold to another art lover
and another piece - of the sun, and 2 companions
The Art Book  of Napoleon Abueva.
The sun, and 2 figures.... i am hoping it is still there

and this that i cannot afford at this time.
in metal, Abueva's black trinity kalabaw (my name for it)
done in smooth black - that is just wonderful to touch
2 adult na kalabaw  nestling a tiny one between them
though the metal is cold, one can feel the love.
if i cannot get this, surely the one who is able to have this will be lucky
to hold that love in his possession
the tag price ---- over half a million in phil pesos, but truly worth the price methinks

Manny, Boy (Angel Lebanan), Alice, me

more Abueva pieces will be blogged separately.

Looking backward to look forward

Last February 6 2008, Ash Wednesday - I had life-changing surgery.  i had a kidney transplant at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute.

It will be my two year anniversary this Saturday. And today, as Saturday approaches, i think about yesterday and look at tomorrow, to see what i should implement today.

Life goes on, sometimes so fast. We must never forget to stop, take a breath, and look at where we are, what we have done, and what we have yet to do, and most especially, to always count our blessings.

Last 30 January 2010, we had the second Arts n Friends art sale at the Black Soup at Maginhawa Street. We had lots of fun, even if we were so very tired at the end of the day.

One of the main beneficiaries of Arts n Friends is the NGO Kidney Friends. Their website is at http://kidney_friends.livejournal.com/
