Reminders for New Pensioners

If you recently retired at age 60, please remember that if you get employed, even just part-time, your pension will be stopped for the duration of your employment.

However, at age 65 - it does not matter. You can work but your pension will continue.  Just make sure your employer no longer will deduct for your SSS.

  1. Hello Ma'am. I am 52 years old. I was an active SSS member, as a professor in a private university, in 1985-2015. On June 1, 2016, I will transfer to GSIS as a professor in a state university. Since I am just 13 years away from age 65, I will not qualify for GSIS pension. Can I invoke the Portability Law so I can avail of GSIS pension when I reach 65? Thank you for your time.

    1. SUGGEST you read the post on portability
the general answer is yes, but the pension will NOT be the same. Also, if you already qualify for an ss pension, SSS may not give you a certification
